When you start to crack open, don’t waste a moment gathering your Old Self up into something like you knew before. Let your New Self S P L A S H like S u n l i g h t into every dark place & laugh & cry & make sounds you never made & thank all that is holy for the Gift, because now you have no choice but to … Let all your LOVE spill out into the world. –Kai Skye @ Flying Edna

It makes me happy to think of spilling my love into the world, even when I’m not making all those sounds. 😉
A friend mentioned she was inspired by last month’s message to share an activity with a group of teens she mentors in a grief support group. She believes there is another wave of gratitude rippling out through those girls from my article, End (and Begin) with Gratitude.
Our words matter, more than we think they do.
The words we don’t say matter too.
- …words we don’t say to encourage someone in a time of need;
- …words we don’t say to apologize for an unkind act;
- …words we don’t say to give a positive solution to a problem being faced;
- …words we don’t say to remind someone how much they are loved.
As I shared in Warrior of Fierce Love, changing the world happens through an accumulation of small, consistent acts of love…which often begins with a single kind word.
This is how to spill our love: one person, one true word, one meaningful sentence at a time.
It can be as simple as sending a hand-written note to a friend, making soup to share with a neighbor, saying a prayer, pausing to meditate during a busy day, calling your grandson to say you miss him (hello Kashus Lee 😉), leaving a box of thank you snacks for your delivery drivers (my neighbor does this!) … or even rearranging your schedule because you’re wayyyyy too busy and need a flow day to replenish your inner well of love.
The love spilling happens best when we meet another with heart and mind wide open, listening deeply for how to embrace the moment fully, together … through laughter, tears, a comforting thought, a challenging question, a well-placed idea, a moment of silence, or maybe even offering to give your favorite painted rock away (more on this later).
So whether or not you have a partner to honor during this coming celebration of romantic love, use Valentine’s Day to spill your love … to yourself, into your circle of friends & family, out to your service providers, up to all the people you cherish who are no longer here.
The world can use a little bit of love spilling, a big bit of light splashing, a thousand tiny ripples of kindness.
What can you do to start a ripple today?
With a Splash of Love,
